On July 30, 2026, DoorDash obtained Part 135 Air Carrier Certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, establishing its in-house drone delivery division, DoorDash Air, with plans to launch commercial services in the fall, though the initial regions have not yet been determined. This certification allows it to charge for deliveries, while beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations require a separate application. Drones will be used for medium-distance orders of 3-5 miles to optimize human resource allocation.
