The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has approved the release of the national standard Guidelines for the Classification and Evaluation of Quality and Safety Risks in Smart Home Appliances, which will be implemented from February 1, 2027. This standard establishes the basic principles, indicators, and methods for the classification and evaluation of risks in smart home appliances. Addressing the unique characteristics of smart home appliances, which combine traditional hardware risks with new digital risks, the standard sets provisions in three key areas: defining four categories of safety risks, enabling comprehensive quantitative risk assessment for products, and unifying the evaluation process and risk grading mechanism. These measures aim to mitigate overlapping safety hazards and promote standardized, high-quality development of the industry.
