On July 29, figures released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) revealed that in June 2026, domestic mobile phone shipments amounted to 19.149 million units, marking a 15.3% decrease compared to the same period the previous year. Specifically, shipments of 5G mobile phones reached 16.201 million units, experiencing a 12.1% year-on-year drop, yet they still constituted 84.6% of the total mobile phone shipments. Looking at the first half of 2026 (from January to June), domestic mobile phone shipments aggregated to 133 million units, showing a 5.5% decline year-on-year. However, 5G mobile phones accounted for 123 million units within this total, registering a 1.7% increase year-on-year and representing 92.0% of the overall shipments.
