On July 23, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce unveiled plans to introduce a fresh subsidy initiative for consumer goods trade-ins in 2026. This scheme will encompass 10 categories of smart home and age-friendly products, including smart door locks, smart cameras, intelligent robotic vacuums (encompassing smart floor washers and smart vacuum cleaners), smart toilets (inclusive of smart toilet seats), digital cameras (action cameras included), smart headphones, whole-house smart hubs (smart home servers and smart gateways are part of this category), smart beds (smart mattresses included), smart electric wheelchairs, and embodied AI robots (covering companion robots, robot dogs, exoskeleton robots, and robots designed for elderly care). Under this policy, individual consumers who purchase these items will be eligible for a 15% subsidy on the final sales price, after all discounts have been applied. The subsidy is capped at one per person per category, with a maximum subsidy amount of 1,500 yuan per item.
