On July 13th, market research agency Counterpoint Research unveiled data revealing that the material costs for the iPhone 18 Pro Max (boasting 12GB of memory and a whopping 1TB of storage) are projected to surge by roughly $300 compared to its previous iteration. This cost escalation is predominantly attributed to a sharp spike in memory prices. Additionally, the incorporation of a 2-nanometer system-level chip and cutting-edge packaging technology has further propelled costs upwards. Although the camera module's expenses have marginally risen due to the integration of new technologies, the costs associated with displays and certain components have witnessed a decline, somewhat mitigating the overall cost hike.
