Ming-Chi Kuo, a seasoned analyst with a longstanding focus on Apple's supply chain, has unveiled a report indicating that iOS 27 is set to achieve an even more profound system-level integration with Apple Intelligence. Based on his most recent industry survey, in order to guarantee seamless system performance under AI workloads, the DRAM specification for new low-end iPhones slated to be equipped with the A20 processor in the first half of 2027 will undergo an upgrade to 9GB (comprising 1.5GB×6-die), surpassing the current 8GB (2GB×4-die) found in A19 models. In the meantime, the three high-end models (including a foldable device and two 18 Pro models) that will be outfitted with the A20 Pro processor in the latter half of 2026 will retain a DRAM specification of 12GB (1.5GBx8-die).
