According to the latest report from supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to slightly increase the RAM in the entry-level iPhone 18 series, set to be released in spring 2027, from the current 8GB in the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e to 9GB, in order to improve the performance of Apple Intelligence-related functions. The new models are expected to have 1GB more RAM than existing models, providing more ample operating space for AI tasks. Specifically, the low-end iPhone 18 models will be equipped with the A20 chip and utilize a combination of six 1.5GB memory modules, totaling 9GB. In contrast, the existing low-end iPhone 17 models use a configuration of four 2GB modules, totaling 8GB. The RAM increase aims to ensure smooth operation of AI tasks, as the iOS 27 system will introduce a range of Apple Intelligence functions, placing higher demands on device-side computing power and memory bandwidth.
