The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has resulted in the closure of the PPE resin factory located in Saudi Arabia's Jubail Industrial Zone. This particular factory is a major player in the global market, providing around 70% of the world's supply of PPE resin. The shutdown has been triggered by disruptions in shipping operations through the Strait of Hormuz. Given that PPE resin is an indispensable material for modern electronics manufacturing, experts caution that if the supply disruption persists into the autumn season, consumers can anticipate a notable uptick in prices. As per a report from Goldman Sachs, the prices of printed circuit boards witnessed a significant increase of up to 40% in April when compared to March. Furthermore, shares of the U.S.-based manufacturer TTM Technologies have experienced a remarkable surge, soaring by over 400% in the past year alone.
