Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has unveiled a significant pivot in Apple’s product roadmap. Among its lineup of XR headsets and smart glasses, Apple has decided to keep only two smart glasses products, with the entire Vision Pro series being phased out. This strategic overhaul received the green light from Apple’s incoming CEO, John Ternus. Kuo advises that Apple should redirect its resources towards the burgeoning AI glasses market, which he believes offers more promising consumer prospects.

A deep dive into the supply chain reveals that the release of AR/XR smart glasses featuring optical waveguide displays has been pushed back to 2029. In contrast, AI glasses sans displays, akin to the Ray-Ban Meta model, are slated for a 2027 debut.
