Google has recently made an announcement that its 'Phone by Google' application is set to roll out a novel feature aimed at assisting Android users in discerning and thwarting fraudulent calls. These calls leverage AI technology to mimic numbers and voices. When a user gets a call that seemingly originates from a contact but is suspected of being fraudulent, the app will promptly mark it as a 'Suspected Spam Call' on the screen, serving as a reminder for the user to hang up without delay.

For this feature to work effectively, both parties involved in the call need to be using the Google Phone app. It operates by sending silent confirmation signals to verify the authenticity of the call. Should the system detect any misuse of the number, the recipient's device will instantly trigger a warning and prompt the user to hang up.

This innovative feature is slated for a global rollout starting this month. Initially, it will be available on Pixel devices running Android 12 or later versions. By default, the feature will be activated, but users retain the option to deactivate it if they so choose.
