Microsoft recently announced that starting from July 13, Office 2019 for Mac will enter a 'reduced functionality mode,' where users will be unable to edit documents. Microsoft stated that this restriction is due to the impending expiration of the digital certificate on which the office suite relies. Affected applications include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, among others. Users will still be able to open, view, and print existing documents, but will not be able to create new ones, edit, or save. Meanwhile, Office applications for iPhone and iPad that cannot be updated will also face the same restrictions.
