Google has officially declared that its inaugural wearable product, branded as 'smart glasses,' is slated to hit the market this autumn. These AI-driven audio glasses, a collaborative effort with Samsung, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker, are engineered on the Android XR framework. Equipped with an in-built camera, they eschew the traditional lens display. To date, Google has unveiled two preliminary design prototypes, with its partners poised to roll out full-fledged versions inspired by these concepts. Every model will incorporate the Gemini AI system, facilitating user interaction through voice commands. Functionally, Gemini is adept at delivering contextually pertinent information services, aiding in visual navigation, and the glasses also boast communication and multimedia functionalities. They are capable of managing complex, multi-step tasks, running smartphone applications, and are cross-compatible with both Android and iPhone platforms. Meanwhile, Apple is also reportedly in the process of developing a comparable device, anticipated to make its debut in 2027. In contrast, Google has plans to later introduce 'display-integrated glasses' that will feature compact lens displays.
