A research team from Yonsei University in South Korea has developed smart contact lenses that may potentially be used to treat depression. These lenses have demonstrated efficacy similar to antidepressant drugs in mouse experiments, and the research findings have been published. Led by Park Jang-woong (phonetic), the contact lenses are soft and transparent, with ultrathin electrodes on the lenses that can target and stimulate neural circuits in the mouse retina, improving mood in a manner similar to 'Prozac'.
