Apple plans to adopt next-generation all-four-sides bendable display technology for its 2028 iPhone, addressing edge curvature display issues by replacing the cathode layer material with indium zinc oxide. Next year, the iPhone commemorating the 20th anniversary will be the first to apply this all-four-sides bendable display solution. However, the initial solution uses a magnesium-silver alloy for the screen's cathode layer, which may cause image distortion and reduced brightness. As suppliers of Apple's OLED panels, Samsung Display and LG Display have already begun preparations for the 2028 iPhone. LG Display has announced an investment in new OLED production facilities, planning to initially use the new equipment for R&D before transitioning to mass production. Samsung Display is evaluating subsequent equipment construction, with a high likelihood of investing in additional production lines.
