Recently, the High Court of Justice in London rendered a verdict in the worldwide patent licensing conflict between Samsung Electronics and ZTE, mandating Samsung to pay ZTE a one-time sum of $392 million as mobile communication patent licensing fees. Prior to this, the two companies had been at loggerheads over the licensing fees, with ZTE seeking as much as $731 million and Samsung contending (insisting) that the amount should not exceed $200 million. It's important to note that this verdict is a preliminary decision and has not yet come into force. In previous cases, courts in various countries have upheld ZTE's adherence to FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) terms in its pricing.
