On May 2, it was reported that Apple has increased the starting price of its Mac Mini computer from $599 to $799 in response to inventory tightness and chip supply constraints driven by demand for artificial intelligence. Apple achieved the price hike by eliminating the entry-level configuration. Previously, the entry-level model was equipped with an M4 chip and 256GB of storage; now, the starting version retains the same chip but upgrades the storage to 512GB. The starting price for the M4 Pro model remains at $1,399. The $599 configuration is no longer available for sale as it has sold out at most retail points. Other configurations require several weeks or months for delivery from Apple's online store, and supply at Apple retail stores is also limited.
