During the fiscal Q2 2026 earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the company will reinvest the entire approximately $3 billion in tariff refunds into domestic U.S. manufacturing. These tariffs originated from last year's trade measures, with businesses able to recover funds after the Supreme Court ruled the policies illegal. Industry estimates suggest the total eligible tariff refunds amount to around $166 billion. Apple had previously committed to investing $600 billion in U.S. manufacturing, and this refund will specifically fund new manufacturing initiatives. Cook emphasized that this represents additional investment unrelated to existing commitments.
