On April 16, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an urgent recall notice, revealing that Apex Gaming is recalling a substantial total of 18,000 PC power supplies, marketed under its Apex and Manik brands. This recall stems from the potential risk of death or serious injury, prompting the CPSC to strongly urge users to cease using these products immediately. The primary cause for this recall is the absence of permanent safety warning labels on the power supplies. This lack of labeling prevents users from being adequately informed about the risks of electric shock and electrocution. Given that the internal components of these power supplies carry high voltage, and a charge may persist even after the device has been unplugged, there is a significant danger of severe injury or death if users come into contact with the internal parts.
To address this issue, Apex Gaming will be distributing UL-certified, heat-resistant permanent safety label stickers. For users who prefer not to apply these stickers themselves, Apex Gaming offers the option to request a free replacement of the entire power supply unit. However, users must return the original unit in its original packaging to facilitate this replacement process.
