On April 15, 2026, Canon (China) announced the launch of two new additions to its cinema servo lens series: the CN30×40 IAS J/R1 and CN30×40 IAS J/P1, featuring RF mount and PL mount respectively. These lenses are scheduled for release in late September 2026. The new lenses offer a focal length range of 40mm to 1200mm, extendable to 1800mm using the built-in 1.5x extender, making them suitable for cameras equipped with 35mm full-frame image sensors. While boosting the zoom ratio to 30x, the PL mount version maintains the same approximate length of 405.2mm and weight of 6.6kg as its predecessor, ensuring excellent mobility. The CN30×40 IAS J/R1 supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF, Focus Guide, and Auto Exposure Gradual Compensation functions, effectively reducing workload during on-site shooting and maintaining stable exposure during zooming. Both lenses incorporate a newly developed drive unit with a multifunctional USB Type-C interface, significantly enhancing servo speeds for zooming and focusing when connected to an external power source. The lenses also support outputting focus, zoom, and iris position information to remote control systems, enabling lens control via remote systems and allowing users to perform firmware updates and maintenance. With the drive unit installed, the lenses support broadcast-style workflows; when removed, they enable fully manual operation for cinematic workflows. These lenses are ideal for a variety of shooting scenarios, including wildlife and nature photography, sports broadcasting, and concert filming. Optional accessories include the Zoom Servo Controller ZSD-300D, ZDJ-G01 (BDC-21)*¹, and ZDJ-S01 (BDC-21). Iris control does not currently support adjustment via drive unit settings.
