Based on reports, the upcoming round of updates for Apple's desktop Mac lineup is set to lag notably behind the MacBook series, which has already transitioned to the M5 chip. The new Mac mini and the 24-inch iMac are projected to make their debut at Apple's autumn event, scheduled for September-October 2026. Contrary to the previously synchronized update cycles, the update timeline for desktop products has been extended this time around. The high-end Mac Studio is expected to lead the charge, upgrading to the M5 chip in mid-2026, with the more widely accessible Mac mini and 24-inch iMac following suit.
