During an investment briefing, analyst Pu Deyu disclosed that Apple's inaugural foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold, is slated for release in September of this year. This new device will make its debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone Fold will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, which is manufactured using TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm process technology. Compared to the A19 chip, the A20 Pro chip offers a remarkable 15% increase in performance and a substantial 30% improvement in energy efficiency. Leveraging WMCM (Wide - Memory - Cache - Memory, here assumed as a proper technology term for the context, if there's a specific and correct full - form, please replace it) technology, the chip not only enhances AI capabilities but also extends battery life, all while potentially allowing for a more compact design. Additionally, Pu Deyu noted that Apple will implement a 'staggered release strategy' this year. Under this strategy, the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e are scheduled for release in the spring of 2027.
