On January 17th, Business Insider reported that for over a decade, Apple has been the cornerstone of the tech supply chain, with its massive scale guiding suppliers' R&D directions across multiple domains, including chips, memory, substrates, and packaging. However, this era is undergoing transformation. Brad Gastworth, Global Head of Research & Market Intelligence at Circular Technology, pointed out that Apple is no longer the absolute gravitational center in the hardware sector. Although China has long served as the core of Apple's supply chain, with approximately 80% of its manufacturing partners operating there, in recent years, Apple has been accelerating the diversification of its supply chain, with India and Vietnam emerging as new manufacturing hubs. Nevertheless, China remains the primary manufacturing base for the majority of Apple's devices, a position that is unlikely to be fully replaced in the short term. Meanwhile, Apple is reshaping the value of its supply chain through technological innovation, such as planning to launch a foldable iPhone and accelerating AI chip development. These initiatives are expected to stimulate a new round of device replacement cycles, bringing new growth opportunities for supply chain companies.
