On December 10, Renji Hospital, which is part of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, teamed up with Meituan Drone, Shanghai Telecom, and Jichen Health Service Company to inaugurate the city's inaugural set of routine drone delivery routes specifically designed for transporting medical samples. Initially, these routes have been implemented to facilitate the transfer of medical specimens between Renji Hospital's South Campus and its East/North Campuses, as well as from the North Campus directly to the East Campus. Traditionally, Renji Hospital depended on ground - based transportation methods to convey medical test samples. This approach was not only expensive but also lacked efficiency. The introduction of drone - based delivery has dramatically cut down on transit times. Specifically, the time taken to transport samples from the South Campus to the East Campus has been slashed from 45 minutes to just 23 minutes, while the journey from the North Campus to the East Campus has been reduced from 19 minutes to a mere 8 minutes.
