According to Reuters, which has cited several sources with inside knowledge of the situation, Apple is poised to decline the Indian government's most recent order. This order mandates that all newly sold smartphones come pre-installed with the government-owned cybersecurity application, Sanchar Saathi (translated as "Communication Partner"). Apple is preparing to formally communicate its position to New Delhi, citing concerns over privacy and security. Earlier, the Indian government had covertly instructed smartphone makers, including Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi, to implement the pre-installation within a 90-day timeframe. This directive has ignited substantial debate among politicians and privacy advocates.
