According to a report from a market research institution, by 2025, Apple's smartphone shipments are projected to outpace those of Samsung, enabling Apple to ascend to the pinnacle of the global smartphone market for the first time in 14 years and to sustain this leading position for the subsequent five years. It is estimated that this year, Apple's iPhone shipments will hit roughly 243 million units, representing a 19.4% market share, whereas Samsung's shipments will reach 235 million units, capturing an 18.7% share.

Apple's achievement can be ascribed to the robust sales performance of the iPhone 17 series during the holiday shopping season and the arrival of a pivotal moment in the user replacement cycle. Conversely, Samsung may encounter intense competition from Chinese manufacturers in the mid-to-low-end market segments.

Thanks to a variety of factors, including upgrade demand from second-hand iPhone users, less-than-anticipated tariff repercussions, and a depreciating US dollar, Apple is expected to maintain its solid grip on the top spot in the global smartphone market at least until 2029. Furthermore, Apple has plans to introduce an entry-level iPhone 17e and a foldable phone next year. Additionally, it will enhance Siri's functionality and undergo a comprehensive design overhaul in 2027, measures that will further fortify its market standing. By 2030, Apple is anticipated to continue leading the pack among smartphone manufacturers.
