On November 27, 2025, reports emerged indicating that major mobile phone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo, have recently decided to cancel their respective Air model projects. Instead, they have opted to incorporate the eSIM solutions initially planned for the Air models into their standard model ranges.
Sources within the supply chain disclosed that Xiaomi had formulated a detailed product roadmap for a genuine Air model, aiming to rival Apple's premium digital lineup. Meanwhile, vivo has chosen to integrate the distinctive features of its Air models into its mid-range S-series, emphasizing a sleek and slim design aesthetic. Other manufacturers have remained tight-lipped regarding their specific timelines for similar moves.
As of the time of writing this article, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo have not issued any official responses to these reports. Currently, Honor continues to pursue projects with similar concepts but has chosen not to label them as 'Air.' On the other hand, both Lenovo and Transsion have decided to keep their Air models in their product portfolios.
