As reported by Lan Jing, the safety standard for power banks, which is being hailed as the "most stringent in history," is now in the final countdown to implementation. In October and November, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology convened several symposiums focused on the draft of the "Safety Technical Specifications for Mobile Power Supplies." These meetings proposed numerous rigorous enhancements across three key technical domains: the entire device, circuit boards, and battery cells. The new regulations are anticipated to be publicly announced in December, officially released in February 2026, and take effect from June of that same year. Upon this implementation, the existing 3C certification requirements will cease to be valid. Business leaders who participated in the symposium estimated that once the new regulations are enforced, close to 70% of the current production capacity will be compelled to withdraw from the mobile power supply market due to non-compliance with the new technical standards.
