The Deputy Commander of the UK's Cyber and Special Operations Command recently remarked that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has underscored the immense value of soldiers skilled in gaming, especially those adept at remotely piloting drones in combat scenarios. In light of this, the UK Ministry of Defence has revealed plans to organize a defense-themed esports tournament, known as IDEG, which will see future cyber warriors from around the globe coming together to compete.
Beyond indulging in the popular game "Call of Duty," contestants will also engage in fierce battles within the drone simulation game VelociDrone. This particular game is designed to replicate real-world scenarios frequently encountered on the Ukrainian battlefield and serves as a crucial training tool for British drone operators. By honing their skills in this virtual environment, operators can significantly enhance their precision in target location and speed of reaction, ultimately transforming them into formidable adversaries for enemy forces.
