On October 27, the Communications Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region unveiled the Dedicated License for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, aiming to bolster the growth of the low-altitude economy. A spokesperson from the Communications Authority mentioned that, within the framework of the dedicated licensing system for unmanned aerial vehicles, licensees will be allocated the 1430–1444 MHz frequency band as exclusive spectrum. This allocation enables them to install, maintain, and operate radio communication equipment for unmanned aerial vehicle systems. This move offers an extra communication avenue for unmanned aerial vehicle operations, supplementing wireless local area networks as well as fourth- and fifth-generation mobile communication networks. It thereby enhances the safety and efficiency of unmanned aerial vehicle activities and provides robust communication network support for the establishment of a low-altitude economic ecosystem. At present, institutions taking part in the low-altitude economy "regulatory sandbox" pilot projects are eligible to apply for this license.
