The domestic variant of the iPhone Air (Model A3518) in China boasts an eSIM seamless switching feature. This innovative capability allows users to effortlessly transfer their eSIM to a new device when upgrading their phones, eliminating the necessity of visiting a service center. This function is uniquely available on this model's domestic release; other iPhone models, including those bought overseas, do not support the installation of eSIM profiles from mainland Chinese carriers. Presently, all three major carriers in mainland China provide eSIM services. However, users are required to visit physical service centers with an eSIM-compatible domestic model to activate the service. Each device can support the activation of up to two eSIMs. When traveling internationally, users can activate a local eSIM on this model, provided that location services are enabled. Nonetheless, it remains impossible to install eSIMs from overseas carriers in mainland China.
