On October 14, 2025, China's three major telecom carriers—China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom—jointly made an announcement, declaring the nationwide rollout of eSIM mobile services. On this very same day, Apple also revealed that pre-orders for the domestic version of the iPhone Air would commence on October 17, followed by its official release on October 22. In China, "domestic version" is a more commonly used and natural expression when referring to products specifically tailored for the Chinese market, compared to "national version". Also, "jointly announced" is a more standard and formal way of expressing the carriers' collective action, and "declaring the nationwide rollout" is more in line with English business announcement habits than simply "launch".
