On October 7, 2025, Apple delivered the macOS 26.1 Developer Preview Beta 2 update to Mac users. The update carries an internal build number of 25B5057f and arrives just 14 days after the previous Beta/RC version was released.

This update addresses a range of issues with system components. For instance, it resolves the error that the Asset Pack Manager of Background Assets would throw when attempting to look up local asset file URLs. It also corrects the incorrect timestamp returned by the GCPressedStateInput.lastPressedStateTimestamp method of the Game Controller. Moreover, it fixes the crash that occurred with the navigationLinkIndicatorVisibility modifier in SwiftUI when running on iOS 17/18 and corresponding versions. Additionally, the missing application search bar for Apple TV on macOS has been restored.

Furthermore, a new security verification mechanism for sudo permissions has been introduced. If the owner of the /etc/sudoers configuration file and the /etc/sudoers.d folder is not set to root, the configuration will be disregarded, potentially leading to sudo malfunction. To rectify this, users can utilize the Recovery mode and execute the command 'chown 0:0 /etc/sudoers' to change the file's owner to the correct one.

IT Home will furnish more detailed information about the specific contents of this update at a later time.
