Apple had previously marketed its products using 'carbon neutral' labels. However, after finding itself ensnared in a legal dispute within the EU, the company has begun to de-emphasize this claim. The recently launched Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 no longer feature 'carbon neutral' as a key promotional aspect, and related descriptions have been removed on a global scale. Similarly, the M4 Mac mini has also had the 'carbon neutral' phrase taken out.
Previously, in 2023, certain Apple Watch models were touted as the first batch of 'carbon neutral' products. Apple claimed that these models adhered to stringent standards and contributed to the reduction of carbon emissions. Yet, in August of this year, environmental groups leveled accusations of 'greenwashing' against Apple, alleging that it was misleading consumers. Following this, a German court handed down a ruling that prohibited Apple from promoting the Apple Watch as a 'carbon neutral' product. After the court's decision, Apple initially removed the pertinent descriptions from its German official website and subsequently expanded this removal to encompass all its global platforms.
