On September 15, Mark Gurman, a renowned Apple correspondent for Bloomberg, expressed that he doesn't anticipate the iPhone Air to be a runaway success, but he sees the China market as a potential bright spot. Gurman highlighted that the rollout of the iPhone Air in mainland China has been postponed, mainly due to its exclusive support for eSIM technology, which hasn't gained widespread adoption in mainland China yet.
Last Friday, Apple kicked off pre-sales for the iPhone 17 series; however, the pre-sale of the iPhone Air was put on hold in mainland China. Apple mentioned that the launch details for the iPhone Air would be provided at a later date.
Gurman opined that the iPhone Air falls short in terms of battery life, camera technology, and speaker setup. Given that its price is comparable to that of the iPhone 17 Pro, it faces an uphill battle in gaining popularity. Nevertheless, he remains upbeat about the China market, as Chinese consumers are known for their willingness to splurge on stylish and technologically advanced gadgets.
