From September 4th to 5th, 2025, Kigali, the vibrant capital of Rwanda, played host to the 9th Africa Aviation Summit. Under the theme "Collaboration Unleashing Africa's Growth Potential - How Can Africa Achieve Sustainable Development in the Aviation Industry?", the summit gathered over 1,700 top-tier professionals from the aviation sector, along with representatives from more than 120 airlines and manufacturers worldwide.
A significant moment at the summit was the historic maiden flight of China's pioneering unmanned/manned electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, the EH216-S, on African soil. This aircraft has already earned the prestigious "Airworthiness Triple Certificates" (Type Certificate TC, Production Certificate PC, and Standard Airworthiness Certificate AC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Its successful flight became the summit's most talked-about event.
Statistics reveal that while Africa is home to around 17% of the world's population, its air traffic volume constitutes a mere 2.2%. This disparity underscores the vast untapped potential for the development of Africa's low-altitude economy. The EH216-S's maiden flight not only showcased the prowess of "Intelligently Made in China" but also marked the beginning of a new era in China-Africa cooperation within the low-altitude economy sphere.
