Smart glasses have made promises for years, but two problems have consistently held them back: the displays haven't been good enough, and the cameras have made people around the wearer uncomfortable.

A new device from INMO is directly tackling both of those issues at once, and it is doing it with some genuinely novel ideas.

INMO Launches the GO3 Smart Glasses with Gemini AI

INMO has officially launched the GO3, its next-generation everyday AI smart glasses, bringing an actual binocular display, Google Gemini AI integration, and a unique physical camera privacy solution to the wearable AI space. The GO3 first debuted at CES 2026, where it earned the Digital Trends CES 2026 Publisher Awards, before its commercial availability was confirmed for a global Kickstarter campaign that launched in April 2026.

The device is designed around the premise of keeping users connected and productive without forcing them to constantly reach for their phones. With a full display in front of both eyes, everything from translation to navigation to AI conversation happens right in the user's field of view, removing the need to break eye contact or interrupt a conversation to check information.

The AI assistant built into the GO3 is powered by Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT, giving users access to two of the most capable AI platforms currently available through a single wearable device. Functions include answering questions, recognizing images captured by the onboard camera, taking notes during meetings, and more, all operable through voice without touching the glasses themselves.

INMO GO3 Brings MicroLED Display

The INMO GO3 uses dual MicroLED displays, one for each eye, that reach up to 1,500 nits of brightness and offer a 30-degree field of view. That level of brightness makes them usable in outdoor conditions without the display washing out, and the binocular setup means the visual experience is consistent and stable across both eyes without the ghosting or edge distortion that can affect single-display designs.

Despite carrying this display hardware, the GO3 weighs just 58 grams, placing it very slightly above the weight of Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses, which carry no display at all. The 8-millimeter temple width keeps the overall profile slim enough that the glasses read as normal eyewear rather than a conspicuous tech device, which is a deliberate design choice from INMO to make the GO3 more practical for daily use.

Battery life is addressed through a five-second magnetic swappable battery system, supported by a charging case that comes with two replaceable battery cells. When one battery runs out, the user can swap in the second and let the first charge in the case, allowing continuous use throughout the day without needing to take the glasses off entirely.

This is a substantially different approach from competitors, most of which require the entire device to be placed on a charger when the battery depletes.

INMO GO3 Camera Privacy, Features

One of the GO3's most pointed design decisions is the physical privacy cover for the onboard camera, as per 9to5Google.

The cover slides directly over the lens and gives both the wearer and the people around them a clear, visible signal that the camera is not in use. At a time when camera-equipped smart glasses have drawn serious scrutiny and legal attention around unauthorized recording, a physical cover provides a level of reassurance that software controls alone cannot replicate.

The camera supports AI vision functions, enabling Gemini and the GO3's broader AI system to recognize and respond to what the user is looking at in real time. Translation is one of the most immediately practical applications, with the GO3 supporting real-time bilingual translation across 98 languages, including 13 that work entirely offline without a network connection. The glasses detect speech from whoever the wearer is speaking with and overlay a translation directly in the eyeline.

Additional software features include a teleprompter mode, hands-free navigation powered by HERE Maps displayed directly in the user's view, AI-assisted writing and summarization, voice-activated web search, and meeting transcription. A coming update will also allow summarization to be delivered directly through the display rather than requiring the user to check a companion app afterward.

The GO3 is also compatible with a range of accessories that expand its functionality. The INMO Speaker can be used alongside the translation feature to respond to conversation partners in their own language using an AI clone of the wearer's voice. The INMO Ring4 controller lets users navigate the GO3's software interface without touching the glasses.

A sunglasses cover and prescription lens inserts are also available for users who want to adapt the device for outdoor use or correct their vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is INMO?

INMO Technology is a consumer electronics company founded and headquartered in Chengdu, China, with a focus on what it describes as AI+AR smart glasses. The company positions itself as a pioneer in the integrated augmented reality glasses category and adheres to a design philosophy it summarizes as light weighting combined with AI integration. INMO operates a vertically integrated business that spans hardware and software development, internal testing, manufacturing, and global distribution.

The company maintains stable strategic partnerships throughout its supply chain and has been building its AR glasses lineup through multiple product generations. Its products have gained visibility at major international trade shows, including CES, where the GO3 earned recognition at the beginning of 2026, as well as the IFA Innovation Awards.

What Makes the INMO GO3 Unique From Other Smart Glasses?

Two things distinguish the INMO GO3 most clearly from the dominant players in the current smart glasses market. The first is the display: most smart glasses currently on sale, including the popular Meta Ray-Ban lineup, have no display whatsoever and function primarily as audio devices with a camera attached.

The GO3 uses dual MicroLED panels with 1,500-nit brightness that place usable visual information directly in both eyes simultaneously, making the device genuinely useful for navigation, translation, teleprompter use, and AI interaction without requiring the user to look at a phone. The second distinction is the physical camera privacy cover. The broader smart glasses industry has faced criticism and legal challenges over unintentional or non-consensual recording, and most manufacturers have responded with software-based indicators or indicator lights, which have themselves been shown to be bypassable.

The GO3's physical cover gives bystanders a tangible and immediately visible sign that the camera is blocked, addressing the social friction around wearable cameras in a way that software toggles simply cannot.

How Much Is the INMO GO3 and When Is Its Release?

The INMO GO3 is available now at a price of $509, as listed on the official INMO website and confirmed through the 9to5Google review. The glasses launched via a Kickstarter campaign in April 2026 before moving to general availability.

INMO offered an early reservation program on its official website ahead of the commercial launch, where a one-dollar deposit unlocked a $50 discount off the final purchase price. During the crowdfunding period, INMO also offered a bundled promotional package that combined the INMO GO3 with the INMO Speaker and the INMO Ring4 controller accessory. The GO3 is available in a standard version as well as through configurations that include prescription lens inserts and a sunglasses cover for outdoor use.
