Construction of the Guangdong Huangmaoxia Reservoir Project has officially commenced, situated 6 kilometers downstream from Dawan Town, Yingde, in Qingyuan. Boasting a substantial total storage capacity of 562 million cubic meters, the project includes a flood control storage capacity of 547 million cubic meters and a normal water storage level of 45 meters. The comprehensive project comprises a sluice gate, power station, navigation lock, fishway, and connecting dams on both banks, with a total investment of 13.5 billion yuan.
The primary objectives of the Huangmaoxia Reservoir Project are to bolster the flood control capabilities of the middle and lower reaches of the Lianjiang River, alleviate the flood management burden on Guangzhou, Foshan, and surrounding regions, and enhance the flood resilience of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
