The European Union's antitrust regulator has granted concessions to US-based Corning Inc. In an effort to steer clear of potential antitrust penalties, Corning has agreed to terminate its exclusive agreements with mobile phone manufacturers and glass processing firms, and to eliminate associated procurement clauses. Among the specific commitments, Corning will refrain from mandating mobile phone manufacturers to purchase a set amount of "Gorilla Glass" within the European Economic Area and will decouple price discounts from procurement conditions. These concessions will remain in effect for a period of nine years.
