Apple has initiated legal action against blogger Jon Prosser and his associate Michael Ramacciotti, accusing them of theft of trade secrets. The complaint alleges that Ramacciotti, with the assistance of a former Apple employee, Ethan Lipnik, accessed an Apple development machine and shared confidential iOS 26 design information with Prosser via FaceTime. Prosser subsequently created and published renderings that closely mirrored the system's design. Apple is seeking a court order to prevent further unauthorized disclosure of information and is pursuing compensation for damages.
Prosser has categorically denied any involvement in a conspiracy and asserts that he was unaware of the source of the information. Additionally, Lipnik has been terminated by Apple for breaching company confidentiality policies.
