Shunde District in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, has recently identified a local outbreak of chikungunya fever, all cases of which have been imported from overseas. As of July 15, a total of 478 confirmed cases have been reported, primarily in Lecong Town, Beijiao Town, and Chencun Town. Fortunately, all reported cases are currently mild. Chikungunya fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the chikungunya virus, characterized by symptoms such as fever, rash, and joint pain. It is primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. With the current high temperatures and frequent rainfall, mosquito activity has surged, leading the disease to enter a period of high incidence. Officials have urged citizens to heighten their awareness of prevention and control measures, including clearing standing water, eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, and adopting personal mosquito prevention strategies. Should citizens experience relevant symptoms, they are advised to seek medical attention promptly and disclose their travel history and any mosquito bites.
