Microsoft has introduced a groundbreaking feature named Hotpatch to select Windows 11 versions. This innovation allows users to seamlessly install security updates without requiring a device restart, significantly reducing downtime and disruptions, thereby boosting system maintenance efficiency. Initially available on Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise, Education, and Windows 365 Enterprise editions, Hotpatch primarily supports devices equipped with Intel or AMD processors. Currently, ARM devices are undergoing public beta testing, with a full-scale rollout anticipated in the future. Moreover, Microsoft employs a quarterly baseline update mechanism to manage system reboot requirements. Ideally, users need only restart their devices in January, April, July, and October to apply security updates, while updates during the remaining months can be applied using Hotpatch technology, eliminating the need for a reboot.
