On July 8, finance ministers of the European Union (EU) officially endorsed in Brussels the conclusive legal framework necessary for Bulgaria to join the eurozone. This milestone paves the way for Bulgaria to introduce the euro as its official currency on January 1, 2026, marking it as the 21st member of the eurozone, almost two decades after its accession to the EU in 2007.
