Recently, a significant dispute arose between Kent Overstreet, the lead developer of bcachefs, and Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux. The conflict occurred when Overstreet submitted code incorporating new features during the release candidate phase, a violation of the kernel's policy that restricts this phase to bug fixes only. Torvalds expressed his deep dissatisfaction and cautioned that bcachefs could be excluded from the Linux 6.17 kernel release.
