A disgruntled IT technician from West Yorkshire, UK, who retaliated against his firing by wreaking havoc on his former employer's digital systems, has been sentenced to 7 months and 14 days in prison. According to reports, shortly after being suspended from work in July 2022, Mohammed Umar Taj illegally accessed the company's system, altered login credentials, and disrupted the authentication system, causing significant disruptions to the company's operations and incurring losses of at least $200,000. Last week, Taj pleaded guilty to charges of unauthorized computer access and obstructing access at Leeds Crown Court.
