On June 26, Qingdao Port welcomed a groundbreaking addition to its fleet: China's first hydrogen-powered tugboat, aptly named 'Hydrogen Tug 1'. Equipped with an advanced hybrid system comprising 'hydrogen fuel cells and liquid-cooled lithium batteries,' this tugboat not only achieves zero carbon emissions but also boasts impressive horsepower and extended endurance. It further distinguishes itself through innovative applications such as the integrated Beidou navigation system and fully automated intelligent shore-based charging, addressing multiple technological gaps within the domestic industry. With its implementation, it is anticipated to slash carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,500 tons per annum.
