The Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has embarked on the construction of two telescopes in Lenghu, Qinghai Province. These telescopes include a 4.2-meter ground-based dedicated astrometric telescope and a 2.5-meter multi-terminal general-purpose telescope, both designed to observe celestial bodies within our solar system. Upon their completion, these facilities will mark several "firsts" for China, significantly bolstering its capabilities in precise astrometry. They will establish an internationally leading ground-based optical precision observation system and provide vital high-precision observational data to support advancements in astronomy and space construction.
