An "extravehicular laser maintenance device," jointly developed by Professor Huang Yu's team from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Shanghai Institute of Space Power-Sources, recently completed an on-orbit extravehicular laser cutting maintenance experiment at China's space station. This marks the first time internationally that precise laser cutting has been achieved through teleoperation in the extreme environment of space, hundreds of kilometers above Earth, representing a major breakthrough by China in on-orbit maintenance and equipment manufacturing technology.
