Australian design platform Canva has announced a major restructuring that will impact 1,271 positions — 22% of its total global workforce — through a combination of layoffs and role relocations. The move is aimed at reducing layers of management and encouraging more teams to collaborate in person. CEO Melanie Perkins described it as the toughest moment in the company's 13-year history but did not disclose the exact number of layoffs. Departing employees will receive at least six months' salary, retain 12 months of health insurance in countries where medical benefits are provided, keep their laptops, and be eligible to apply for a $10,000 startup grant.
