The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) in the United States announced that its tokenization service has officially gone live. The initial batch of tokenizable securities consists of 34 offerings, with each token backed on a 1:1 basis by securities held in custody by DTC. Token holders enjoy the same legal rights and economic benefits as the underlying securities. These securities utilize the same CUSIP codes in both traditional markets and on-chain, enabling 24/7 peer-to-peer transfers between DTC-registered wallets. The service also incorporates compliance control mechanisms to track ownership changes in near real-time. Initial wallet and application partners include BitGo, Blockdaemon, Fireblocks, HashKey, Kaleido, Prometheum, Talos, Temple, and Tradeweb. Currently, DTC holds approximately $30 trillion in assets under custody.
