TenPay Global, Tencent's dedicated cross-border payment platform, has forged a strategic partnership with Samsung Wallet and Woori Bank in South Korea. This collaboration aims to propel the interconnection of cross-border QR code payments to new heights. For South Korean travelers visiting China, the integration means seamless transactions. They can now utilize the electronic wallet embedded within Samsung Wallet to make purchases at tens of millions of WeChat Pay merchants nationwide. This is achieved simply by scanning WeChat Pay collection codes or presenting their payment codes, eliminating the need for downloading additional apps or pre-exchanging currency. This partnership marks a significant expansion of TenPay Global's overseas wallet collaboration network. Presently, WeChat Pay accommodates the use of over 60 overseas wallets hailing from 16 countries and regions for transactions within China. Data reveals a promising trend: from January to August 2026, the transaction volume and number of transactions facilitated by overseas wallets through WeChat Pay in China witnessed an impressive year-on-year surge of 80.6% and 81.8%, respectively. Representatives from all involved parties have expressed their commitment to further collaboration. They aim to continuously expand the cross-border payment interconnection network, ultimately providing users with a payment experience that is more attuned to local needs and preferences.
